I read from bulbapedia that there was once the concept of Gold/Ethan/Gen II protagonist having a brother 3 years older than him, but the idea got scrapped and was never mentioned again. And of course, there's that skateboard thing. So what if he had a brother, but some some reason nobody remembers him? He may or may not have a skateboard.

If that doesn't inspire anyone... I once saw a comic where Gold is a hardcore fudanshi (yaoi fanboy) and shut-in/hikikomori (when Silver visits, Gold's mom informs him that her son hasn't left his room since he came back last time and while it's not mentioned how long it looks like 2 or 3 years... or even longer). Because it's the only place I ever saw a yaoi fan male protagonist (it's usually the female protag), it'll be interesting if anyone tackles this.
