A brief calendar of the events occurring in the next few months, along with explanations! These dates are important, so write them in your calendar, put them in your phone, or keep track of them somehow!
- April 1: Writer, artist, and beta-reader sign-ups open
- May 1: Writer sign-ups close (artist and beta-reader sign ups don't close)
- May 3: Big Bang Begins - writers begin work
- June 2: Match-up post opens
Example match-up post. Writers will anonymously pitch their project with short summaries and/or explanations of their fic concepts (see the earlier "writer pitches due" date above); we'll have a form to use once we're closer to the date. When the match up post opens, artists and beta-readers will browse through the summaries and comment, signed-in, on the stories they're interested in. Once artists/beta-readers pick a prompt to work on, the author will get in touch with them, probably via Dreamwidth PM at least to start, and groups will be formed via private discussion (IM, PM, e-mail, whatever). We'll also make a private channel for your group on our discord if you'd like. Remember that you can only be in one group to start. If people drop from a group or go AWOL, the match-up post will be updated to reflect that new position are open. We'll also announce the new openings. Keep an eye on the match up post!
- June 2: Last day for writers to drop
If you post in the match-up post, you're announcing your willingness to see the project through. If you're forced to drop due to extenuating cirumcstances, please contact your teammates as well as the mods to let everyone know asap.
- June 3: Team check-in #1
Example check-in post. Check-ins are where you let the mods know how it's going—how far you are with your piece and if there's anything we can help you with. If you're having trouble contacting any (or all) of your teammates, or if you're still interested in picking up artist(s) or a beta-reader, a check in would be a great time to let us know.
- June 17: Pinch-hits open
After this date, people who feel certain that they can take on the extra work can also sign up for one additional group (as long as there's room in the group, and regardless of people dropped from it or not), although of course it'll be kind of a rush job and no one is promising miracles or anything. Remember that a pinch-hitter can only have two groups: their original group and the group they're pinch-hitting for. No more. Anyone who's signed up for the big bang, regardless of their position, can volunteer as a pinch-hitter. If you're a writer, you can pinch-hit as someone else's beta or artist, etc., etc., although of course you must be careful and be sure that you can handle the work.
- July 3: Author check-in #2
- August 3: Author check-in #3/artist check-in (required)
By this date, you should be pretty close to being done. You don't have to have dotted all of your i's and crossed all of your t's, but the Is and Ts need to be there already. Now is your last chance to tell us if you're having trouble. But you have to post here, even if it's just to answer a few questions like "Writers, have you hit your word minimum?" and "Artists, have you finished your pieces?"
- August 9: Submission of final drafts and art
This is the deadline, but you can submit earlier. By this date, you have to e-mail a copy of your proposed master list post to pokeprompts@gmail.com. You can send it as plain HTML directly in the body of your e-mail, a .txt attachment or a google doc. We'll look it over and tell you if it checks out. For more information on the masterlist submission process, click here.
- August 12: Posting schedule sent out
Here's how posting works. To avoid spamming everyone, every group will be assigned a different day to post their master list. This assignment is random, though we do work with you to try and give you a date that works with your schedule. You have 48 hours to post your master list post on pokemon_bigbang from the date you've been given. (If you find that the day is completely impossible for you to work with, you have to contact us and let us know so we can work something out.)
- August 13: Posting of art and fic begins
Your big bang entry cannot be live online anywhere until your posting date. On your posting date, you can cross-post anywhere you would like.
